Message from Maggie:  This weekend my coworker Lindsay just got engaged!  We are hosting a little surprise celebration for her this afternoon and I wanted to do something silly to celebrate. As an avid emoji user, I thought these cupcakes would be perfect for her.

Materials:

• Cupcake ingredients
• Frosting ingredients
• Food coloring
• Spatula
• Squeeze bottles

Directions:

1. Make cupcakes.  (Note: I used this recipe.)
2. Make cake frosting.  (Note:  I used this recipe.)
3. Determine which emojis you want to create.
4. Determine how many colors you will need to create emojis.  (Note: I used yellow, red, green, blue, and black).
5. Divide frosting putting majority into one large bowl and dye yellow- and then into smaller bowls for the other colors- black, red, green, and blue.
6. Frost cupcakes using the yellow frosting.
7. Dye additional bowls of frosting your desired colors.
8. Place colored frostings into squeeze bottles using spatula.
9. Create emoji’s by carefully piping frosting onto each cupcake.
