Message from Maggie:  I created these custom watermelon tea towels for cute summer gifts.

Materials:

  • Acrylic paint (green and red)
  • Plastic plate
  • Plain tea towel
  • Potato
  • An iron
  • 2 paint brushes

Instructions:

  1. Cut a potato into the shape of a watermelon.
  2. Cut it further to create a watermelon rind and watermelon.
  3. Squirt some paint onto a plastic plate
  4. Using a paint brush, paint the potato that looks like a watermelon rind green.
  5. Press the watermelon rind down firmly on the towel.
  6. Repeat adding green paint between presses until your towel is filled with watermelon rinds.
  7. Using a paint brush, paint the potato that looks like watermelon flesh green.
  8. Press the watermelon down firmly on the towel in between the green rinds.
  9. Repeat adding red paint between presses until your towel is filled with complete watermelons.
