Message from Maggie:

My sister in law Jill is hosting Thanksgiving.  I did another take on my tea towel project (see here and here) with a Thanksgiving theme to serve as a cute host gift for her.

Materials:

  • Acrylic paint (orange and gold)
  • Plastic plate
  • Plain tea towels
  • Potato
  • An iron
  • Twine or Ribbon

Instructions:

  1. Cut a potato into a triangle and cut a small thin horizontal piece off of the top.
  2. Squirt some orange paint onto a plastic plate.
  3. Dip the triangle piece into the orange paint.
  4. Press the triangle down firmly on the towel.
  5. Repeat adding orange paint between presses until your towel is filled with orange triangles.
  6. Dip the horizontal piece or crust into gold paint.
  7. Press the crust piece firmly on the towel above the orange triangle to create a pumpkin pie.
  8. Repeat adding gold paint between presses until your towel is filled with complete pumpkin pies.
  9. Once towel is completely dry, place a clean rag over the tea towel and using a hot iron iron the rag to ensure the paint sets.
  10. Fold and tie with twine or ribbon.
